The Tinsley

The Tinsley is a handcrafted wooden chess board designed for serious players and collectors. Constructed from premium materials including beech, birch, mahogany, and sycamore maple, this board combines durability with natural beauty. It features algebraic notation along the border, helping players track moves with ease, and a practical foldable design for convenient storage and transport.

This board is available in two configurations to suit your needs. The compact 400x200x40 mm format with 32 mm squares is ideal for smaller spaces, whilst the full-size 400x400x20 mm board with 40 mm squares accommodates standard tournament pieces. Both versions fold for portability, making The Tinsley equally at home on a shelf or in a travel bag.

Chess pieces are not included with this board and are sold separately. Select the configuration that best matches your existing set or preferred piece size, and you'll have a board built to last for years of play.

Marion Tinsley was the greatest checkers/draughts player in history - he lost fewer than five games in his entire career. He's to draughts what Fischer or Kasparov is to chess. Using his name here respects the game on its own terms rather than borrowing a chess name for a draughts product, which would feel off.
