The Indian Chess Set is an artisan set inspired by traditional Indian chess aesthetics, featuring hand-carved hornbeam pieces with a 120 mm king on a 52 mm field board. The Indian design draws on the rich heritage of chess's country of origin, with decorative motifs that reference classical Indian woodcarving.
Each piece is individually carved with surface detail that references the design tradition, giving the set a distinctive appearance quite unlike standard European Staunton sets. Hornbeam's hardness and clean grain make it an excellent carving substrate. The board is finished to complement the pieces' warm, natural tones.
A culturally distinctive set that honours chess's origins while remaining fully playable.
