DGT Official FIDE Set Weighted

The DGT Official FIDE pieces mark a defining moment in modern chess history. Commissioned for the 2013 World Championship Match between Magnus Carlsen and Vishy Anand in Chennai, this is the set that crowned a new world champion. Designed by Daniel Weil of Pentagram, London, the pieces draw on the proportions of ancient Greek architecture to reinterpret the classical Staunton form–bridging centuries of tradition with a precision and restraint suited to the highest stage in chess.

White pieces are turned from boxwood; black from ebony. The contrast is stark and deliberate, the materials chosen as much for their visual authority as their tactile quality.
